Puff pastry hot dogs are a joyful summer snack: hot dogs wrapped in flaky, buttery pastry and served with a spicy hot honey mustard. Crispy, golden, and wildly satisfying.
These are summer comfort food at its easiest and best.

The hot dogs are wrapped in puff pastry, brushed with egg wash, sprinkled with sesame seeds, and baked until puffed and golden. Paired with a silky hot honey mustard and a dusting of fresh chives, they make a perfect snacky dinner that’s both nostalgic and delightfully modern.

There’s something irresistible about the contrast of warm, buttery pastry and juicy hot dog, made even better by a dip that balances heat, sweetness, and tang. This combo is quick to prepare and works for casual weeknights, backyard gatherings, or summer beach trips.

These wrapped dogs remind me of the crescent-roll versions my family enjoyed at the shore when I was a kid. Those simple, cheesy treats felt like summer perfection. I don’t always have crescent dough on hand, but puff pastry is a pantry staple for me—light, flaky, and buttery—so it became the natural update.

Slicing a sheet of puff pastry into squares, rolling up hot dogs, brushing with egg wash, and baking at a high temperature for about 20 minutes yields perfectly puffed and golden results. Add sesame seeds for texture and a sprinkle of chives on the dip for brightness.

These are more than just “kid food.” They’re filling, savory, and ideal for dipping—whether you reach for ketchup, relish, or the spicy hot honey mustard. The hot honey mustard has become our go-to: hot honey, dijon, and a touch of mayonnaise whisked until smooth, then finished with chopped fresh chives.

If you like puff pastry used in easy dinners—tarts, quick pizzas, and savory pockets—this recipe fits right in. The pastry offers that croissant-like flakiness that makes every bite feel special without much effort.
