Summer Fridays Volume 9: New Music & Seasonal Picks

summer fridays

Here’s a summer Fridays roundup from one of my favorite places — xo

EATING

Tomato picnic toast is at the top of my list, along with chili lime watermelon. I’m also loving my BLT chopped salad with corn, feta and avocado — an old favorite that never disappoints.

DRINKING

For cocktails, a lemonade frosé is perfect for hot days. I also reach for my kombucha sangria when I want something a little lighter and fizzy.

MAKING

In the kitchen, I’ve been making summer squash pasta with goat cheese and, yes, flaming hot Cheetos grilled corn — it’s ridiculous and so good.

BAKING

When I bake, the caramel pretzel skillet cookie is my go-to. The salty-sweet combination is incredible and always a crowd-pleaser.

GRILLING

A longtime favorite: smoky grilled chicken pita flatbreads with creamy feta are everything. We also love grilled peaches drizzled with lavender honey for a sweet, floral finish.

CRAVING

I’ve been craving a tomato galette—delicious and rustic. I’m also into a blueberry-peach galette with a cinnamon-sugar crust. It’s officially galette season.

LISTENING

On repeat: a beach vibes playlist that sets the perfect summer mood. Great for cooking, lounging, or a drive with the windows down.

READING

I’m about to start The Summer Girl. What are you reading? If you need ideas, check my summer reading list for plenty of inspiration.

WEARING

I picked up a pair of the Lulu slides and I’m obsessed — so comfortable and waterproof, they’ve been my go-to. I’ve also lived in Birkenstock slides all summer; they’re comfier and a bit chunkier, while the Lulu slides feel sleeker and squishier. Basically, I’m a slide convert.

LOVING

I just posted my July favorites — lots of repeat items this month. One surprise I adore: Trader Joe’s dark chocolate-covered watermelon. It’s like a watermelon gummy enrobed in dark chocolate — I was skeptical but now I’m hooked.

SHOPPING

I’m inching toward fall and added a pair of clogs to my anniversary sale order. I love Veronica Beard for timeless pieces and couldn’t stop thinking about these clogs. I was on the fence but decided to try them — excited to see how they wear.

USING

I’m obsessed with porter dressing containers and the porter and lunch bowls I use daily. The tiny dressing containers are perfect for work or travel lunches and meal prep — they make packing salads and dressings so easy.

PACKING

For travel, the Scout Errand Boy bags have become essential for road trips. They’re structured yet lightweight, hold a lot, and fold away when not in use. Eddie’s favorite feature? They zip closed. Also, I put together a list of summer vacation must-haves that I refer to before every trip.
