Please don’t yell at me for making a winter Aperol spritz!

I’ve changed things up a bit — a winter Aperol spritz isn’t the classic version, but it’s worth trying. It’s festive, light and surprisingly refreshing. Perfect for the holidays, whether you’re making one drink or a handful for guests.

If you entertain, I also include an Aperol spritz punch in my holiday entertaining guide — it’s great to have on hand for parties.

A few months ago a friend made Aperol spritzes one Saturday night and they were fantastic. They quickly became a favorite — bright, bubbly and easy to sip after a long week.

Although spritzes are often associated with summer, I love them year-round. For the holidays I like to curl up by the tree with a winter Aperol spritz — the seasonal twist makes it feel special.

The simple winter addition is cranberry. Cranberry juice pairs beautifully with Aperol’s citrus notes and with the prosecco and orange garnish. It blends in so naturally that it could easily become a permanent part of the drink — it just feels like the holidays.
I like an orange twist and a sprig of rosemary to finish the glass. It’s effortless, festive and pretty. I’m glad I finally bought a bottle of Aperol — it’s become a staple in my bar cart.
And isn’t it the prettiest drink ever?
