Happy Halloween! I’m especially excited this year — that little pumpkin up there has me loving dressing up, something I never cared for before. It’s suddenly fun, and I expect it will only get better as the kiddo gets older. Tonight we’re hosting a small party, and I’ll probably be embarrassingly proud, snapping lots of photos — find me on Snapchat at howsweeteats. What are your plans?
This week I put together a generous Thanksgiving spread over on the Crate and Barrel blog — a traditional menu with a twist that’s perfect for a FRIENDSgiving. It covers everything from cocktails to dinner to dessert and offers ideas to freshen up familiar favorites.
I also made quick portobello pizzas for The Pioneer Woman — they come together in about 30 minutes and are endlessly customizable. They’re simple, satisfying, and a perfect weeknight option.
Right now I’m trying to keep my hands away from the Snickers. Not going well. Whomp whomp.
Goods this week:
Here’s where we lose our mind — little pizzas on top of pizza. Pure brilliance.
The ultimate guide to Halloween candy — essential reading if you’re planning treats.
These mini sriracha honey chicken skewers look like a perfect party bite.
Adorable slice-and-bake pumpkin cookies — too cute and absolutely worth making.
I’m curious about this take on bulletproof coffee — seems like an interesting twist.
I don’t even know where to start with this chocolate peanut butter bourbon and bacon milkshake. Truly holy.
Weeknight broiled salmon with a chermoula herb crust — fast and so delicious for busy evenings.
For tonight’s cocktails: try “The Dark.” It’s seasonal and moody — ideal for Halloween.
Since I can’t stop eating squash, delicata squash and kale pizza is next on my list.
Brown butter banana bread with vanilla butter — indulgent, comforting, and a lovely twist on a classic.
Buffalo chicken bowls — everything you want when craving big, bold flavors.
Pasta with mascarpone pumpkin sauce and toasted walnuts is cozy, indulgent, and exactly what I want for dinner on repeat.
A delicious fall green smoothie — bright, nutritious, and full of seasonal flavor.
Salted almond butter chocolate chip cookies may just be converting me to team almond butter — they’re that good.
