How was everyone’s Thanksgiving?

Mine was wonderful. I truly have the most amazing family and feel incredibly blessed.

We had an extra guest at my parents’ house this year.

This is Opus. He’s adorable, a little mischievous, and very fond of table scraps.

He and Winnie tussled over the dropped goodies.

My uncle started the evening off by filling the fruit bowls with Chardonnay instead of fruit.

Fruit? Chardonnay? Same difference — everything seemed to end up in the same place. Bottoms up.

I managed to limit myself to one plate at each Thanksgiving dinner.

This one was vegetables, more vegetables, and a modest side of carbs.

It was fantastic, and right now my belly and elastic-waist pants are on very friendly terms.

I indulged in desserts, including a tiny slice of pumpkin pie.

Then I proceeded to eat a small mountain of cupcakes.

When my “fruit dish” wine glass ran dry, I switched to my husband’s glass. After that was drained, I celebrated the season with a Christmas ale.

If you’ve ever visited The Ugly Mug in Cape May — especially in June over the years — you’ve probably seen my family enjoying themselves there. It’s one of our favorite spots and a place full of good memories of my late grandfather.

After the Christmas ale, I decided I didn’t need a new glass and returned to Chardonnay.

My cup runneth over — and so did my big mouth.

It was a delicious, lively, and satisfying day that left me unbuttoning my pants and feeling thankful. I love my family and feel so blessed.

Thanks to my brother for the fun idea.
