Summer Fridays Vol. 11: New Releases, Highlights & Playlist

summer fridays

Happy summer Friday! What are your plans for the weekend?

EATING

We’re obsessed with marinated tomato BLTs on repeat — they’re light, juicy, and perfect for summer. Another favorite right now is an incredible rotisserie chicken salad that’s easy to throw together and keeps well for lunches.

DRINKING

All the Aperol spritzes. A cold spritz with a big ice cube and a citrus twist has become my go-to refreshment for warm afternoons.

MAKING

I’ve been making a no-churn salted chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream that’s dangerously good — creamy, sweet, and studded with cookie dough bits. It’s one of those recipes you’ll want to share, but probably won’t.

BAKING

Chocolate chip banana oatmeal muffins have been requested non-stop since we got back from vacation. They’re hearty, moist, and a great way to use overripe bananas.

GRILLING

One of my absolute favorite grill recipes is grilled vegetable orzo — smoky, bright, and satisfying. I’m also thinking about grilling flank steak and serving it with a summer garden quinoa and chimichurri for a bigger meal.

CRAVING

I’ve been craving garlic butter naan lately. Soft, pillowy, and slathered with garlic butter — I definitely need to make a batch this week.

READING

I’m planning to start The Newcomer — I’m a fan of MKA’s books and expect this to be a good pick. If you need more ideas, my summer reading list has a range of titles for lazy afternoons and beach days.

LISTENING

We’ve been listening to our golden hour podcast on repeat. It’s the perfect soundtrack for slow summer evenings and drives with the windows down.

SHOPPING

I may have brought home a pumpkin candle — I know it’s still summer, but I adore autumn scents. There’s one pumpkin candle I keep coming back to as my favorite. I also picked up a fig tree candle that I’m excited about, and some decorative molded candles that are beautiful on a shelf or coffee table. As soon as September arrives, I turn into a full-on candle person.

LOVING

I’ve been enjoying episodes of The Lazy Genius podcast this week. Many of the ideas are especially useful for those with older kids, but there are plenty of practical tips and mindset shifts that apply to daily life regardless of family size.

SHARING

I was captivated by the color palette used in La La Anthony’s Brooklyn brownstone — the tones and finishes are stunning and feel both warm and modern.

PLANNING

I love my Passion Planner, but I’ve also been using Ink+Volt planning notepads. The meal planning pad is especially handy for organizing weekly dinners, and the dashboard desk pad keeps priorities visible and on track.
