Banana Colada Cocktail Recipe: Creamy Tropical Drink Guide

I have a new favorite drink!

And it doesn’t contain rum.

Though I imagine it would be delightful with a splash of coconut rum or banana schnapps — not necessarily the best idea first thing in the morning, but fun to consider.

Banana Colada

I’m drawn to tropical flavors: vanilla, coconut, banana, and the like. My collection of lip glosses and candles could easily be mistaken for a few dozen desserts — scents that smell good enough to eat.

Those flavors inspire many of my smoothies, cocktails, granolas, and even meals.

This shake is packed with protein but tastes indulgent, so you may be surprised to learn it’s healthy.

I love when a treat feels like a treat and still counts as nourishment. Wouldn’t it be great if vegetables all tasted like bacon or chocolate?

Banana Colada ingredients

Banana Colada

Serves 1

3/4 cup lite coconut milk

1/2 cup pineapple juice

1 frozen banana (fresh works, but frozen makes the creamiest texture)

1/4 cup pineapple chunks

1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of sea salt

Combine all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. Garnish with shredded coconut or a pineapple wedge if desired.

Finished Banana Colada

If you’re not a banana fan, you can easily swap the fruit for mango, peach, or berries to make a different flavored colada — just as delicious.

But really, if you don’t like bananas, who are you? They’re that versatile and comforting.

On another note, I could use a quick favor. My best friend’s baby, Morgan, is adorable and entered a contest. If you’d like to support her, please vote where indicated on the contest page. It asks for an email but does not send messages afterward. Thank you!
