Can you believe it’s almost 2019?

I feel like this year flew by. With the holidays winding down, I wanted to share my favorite snacks and cocktails to finish the season strong. These are the tried-and-true recipes I reach for when I want delicious, crowd-pleasing bites and drinks.
First, a quick note about cocktails. After sharing a new cocktail every Thursday for years, I’m taking a step back. I still love creating drinks, but I don’t have the bandwidth to post a weekly cocktail right now. I will continue to publish seasonal or special cocktails when inspiration strikes, and there are already more than 120 cocktail recipes available to explore for every occasion.
Now, about New Year’s Eve. My plans are simple and cozy: family at home on the couch with blankets and lots of cuddles. If you’re hosting something larger or throwing a festive party, these ideas will work perfectly.

Start with a fun and unexpected treat: rosé gummy bears. They’re playful, boozy, and perfect for holiday gatherings.

The ricotta jam jar has been a standout in my family this year. You can make it mostly from scratch or use a few store-bought components—it’s always a hit either way. It’s creamy, sweet, and easy to assemble for a crowd.

For something savory and customizable, my hummus trio is a must. Serve all three flavors with warm pita, vegetables, and crackers for a beautiful and satisfying appetizer spread.

Sweet and salty snacks are always welcome. These salted honey lavender nuts are fragrant and crunchy—a great nibble to keep around the drinks table.

I updated my mom’s vintage veggie pizza this year and it’s become one of my favorite party pizzas. It’s vibrant, easy to slice, and perfect for sharing.

Crispy carnitas guacamole is the kind of dish that disappears instantly. Topping creamy guac with crunchy, flavorful pork brings an exciting texture and flavor contrast.

Toasted sesame sriracha deviled eggs are a spicy, savory twist on a classic appetizer. They’re surprisingly addictive and great for make-ahead entertaining.

A Greek marinated flank steak platter makes a fantastic centerpiece for a party or an easy dinner—slice it thin and arrange with pickled vegetables, tzatziki, and warm bread.

For something sweet and unexpected, champagne caramel popcorn pairs salty, buttery popcorn with a glossy caramel glaze for a snack that feels celebratory.

A well-arranged cheese board is essential. Mix textures and flavors—soft brie, sharp aged cheeses, fresh fruit, nuts, and a few jams or honeys—for a crowd-pleasing spread.
Here are a few cocktails I recommend for ringing in the new year:

The winter Aperol spritz has been on repeat for me—bitter, bubbly, and bright. It’s an elegant, easy drink that feels festive.

Now that citrus season is here, orange crushes are irresistible. Fresh orange flavor and a bit of sparkle make these especially refreshing.

Kombucha sangria is a lighter, effervescent alternative to traditional sangrias—great for guests who prefer something less sweet and more herbaceous.

Pomegranate cider mimosas are a seasonal favorite—bright, tart, and perfect for toasting when apple and pomegranate are at their peak.

Sorbet prosecco floats feel indulgent and celebratory while remaining light and refreshing—always a crowd-pleaser.

When you need a little late-night pick-me-up, a three-ingredient espresso martini is smooth, caffeinated, and perfect for staying up late to ring in the new year.

Pear sangria is pretty and subtle—an elegant option if you want something understated yet festive.

And for citrus lovers, blood orange margaritas are a standout—bright, bold, and the perfect way to celebrate the very best of citrus season.
What’s on your menu for the end of the year? How will you celebrate the new year?
Tomorrow I’ll share an incredible pulled pork recipe that’s perfect for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day—it might be one of my favorite recipes of the year. Stay tuned.
