Summer Fridays Volume 10: New Music Picks and Playlist

I could really go for a giant croissant and iced coffee this morning!

EATING

For a relaxed weekend lunch, I love a big hummus platter—simple, colorful, and perfect for sharing. I’m also tempted by an heirloom tomato and burrata grilled cheese; the tomatoes are in season and irresistible.

DRINKING

A chilled pitcher of pinot grigio sangria is ideal for hot afternoons—light, fruity, and very refreshing.

MAKING

One of my go-to dinners is a one-pot peach basil chicken that everyone raves about. I’m also thinking of making a zucchini pie—think of it as a superior frittata: savory, satisfying, and great for using up summer produce.

BAKING

I’m planning to make a batch of garlic butter naan. It’s quick to pull together and pairs with so many dishes, so while it isn’t traditional baking, it’s still delicious and worth the effort.

CRAVING

Grilled peaches with honey lavender whipped ricotta have been on my mind. The combination of sweet, smoky peaches and floral honey lavender is simply incredible.

LISTENING

On repeat: one of my favorite playlists, My Summer Kitchen. It’s dreamy background music for cooking, dining, or lounging on a warm day.

READING

For August’s book club pick we’re reading The School of Essential Ingredients. It’s a cozy, food-filled novel that fits perfectly with summer reading.

WATCHING

I watched an IGTV clip from Tabitha Brown about tradition and found it so moving. Short videos like that can be surprisingly uplifting.

LOVING

I enjoyed a thoughtful interview with Jennifer Garner about life during quarantine—honest, relatable, and full of little observations worth pondering.

LAUGHING

If you’re not following Matt Buechele on Instagram, you should—he’s consistently hilarious. A few of his posts had me laughing out loud this week.

WEARING

Does body cream count as wearing? I’m obsessed with a buttery body balm I recently tried. It’s rich, absorbs well, and is a game-changer if your skin is dry—or even if it’s not.

SHOPPING

I’ve been browsing the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for wardrobe staples. There are so many classic pieces I already love, and I ordered a few new items to try. Once everything arrives I’ll update my notes on what’s worth keeping and what isn’t.

SHARING

There’s a new video out for my melted zucchini baked ziti. It’s a playful take on a classic pasta bake and perfect for feeding a crowd—definitely one to try if you like comforting, veggie-forward dishes.
