Blood Orange Margaritas

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila, silver or gold, to taste
  • 1 ounce Grand Marnier (or orange liqueur)
  • 1 1/2 ounces simple syrup
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces fresh blood orange juice, about 1–2 oranges
  • salt for the rim, lime or orange wedges for garnish

Instructions

  • Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip it into margarita salt. For a twist, blend the salt with a little blood orange sugar. Fill the glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker, add tequila, Grand Marnier, simple syrup, blood orange juice and lime juice with ice. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds, then strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Garnish with lime or orange wedges and enjoy.
