I can’t resist them — and neither should you. Blood orange margaritas are bright, beautiful and perfect for any occasion.
The color alone makes these my favorite cocktail. That deep, vivid hue is simply stunning.
Freshly squeezed blood oranges are the key. If they aren’t available, bottled blood orange juice can work in a pinch — just use the freshest product you can find. The bright citrus flavor balances the tequila and orange liqueur beautifully.
These are simply the best for sipping on a warm afternoon or serving at a party.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces tequila, silver or gold, to taste
- 1 ounce Grand Marnier (or orange liqueur)
- 1 1/2 ounces simple syrup
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- 1 1/2 ounces fresh blood orange juice, about 1–2 oranges
- salt for the rim, lime or orange wedges for garnish
Instructions

Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip it into margarita salt. For a twist, blend the salt with a little blood orange sugar. Fill the glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker, add tequila, Grand Marnier, simple syrup, blood orange juice and lime juice with ice. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds, then strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Garnish with lime or orange wedges and enjoy.
