Yes—I’m actually making this: chocolate, coffee and wine together. A red wine latte.
A WINE LATTE!
Served warm in a comforting mug of love.

This is exactly how I want Valentine’s Day to look.

And yes—this is a cabernet CHOCOLATE latte. We’re doing it.

I originally considered a plain red wine latte, but the idea of wine plus coffee on its own sounded a little odd—almost like a liquid hangover. Adding chocolate changes everything.
Chocolate pairs beautifully with both wine and coffee, bringing the flavors together into something balanced and delicious. The result is surprisingly harmonious and addictive.

Start by making a red wine syrup. Choose a red wine you really enjoy—Pinot Noir works beautifully, though the name “cabernet latte” sounds a bit more romantic online, so Cabernet Sauvignon is what I used for the recipe. The syrup is versatile: drizzle it over ice cream, use it in cocktails, or simply enjoy by the spoonful.
Next, prepare a chocolate syrup and a hot espresso. I use a Nespresso machine for quick espresso and steamed milk. Finish the latte with chopped chocolate on top and, if you like, cute heart sprinkles for a festive touch.

Ingredients
Cabernet Syrup
- 3/4 cup Cabernet Sauvignon or your favorite red wine
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
Cabernet Chocolate Latte
- 1 to 2 tablespoons cabernet syrup
- 1 to 2 teaspoons chocolate syrup
- 2 shots espresso
- 1/4 cup steamed milk
- chopped chocolate for topping

Combine the wine and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk constantly until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a simmer. Turn off the heat and let it cool completely. Store in the fridge—this keeps well.
Cabernet Chocolate Latte

Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of cabernet syrup to the bottom of a mug, then add 1 to 2 teaspoons of chocolate syrup. Pour two shots of hot espresso over the syrups and stir. Top with steamed milk and finish with chopped chocolate.
