This is how to make a hot toddy that becomes your signature drink.

Add caramel. Add honeycrisp syrup. Add a bright squeeze of lemon. Heat it up and you have a steamy caramel apple hot toddy.
Try telling me it won’t become your favorite — it will. I promise.

It’s like the drink version of those green apple lollipops dipped in caramel that used to show up around Halloween. I’d love one right now, except I chipped a tooth on a croissant a few weeks ago, so sticky caramel isn’t exactly an option for me at the moment.
Yep — I chipped my tooth on a croissant. I’m still not over it. If anything deserves to be pillow-soft, it’s a croissant.

Full disclosure: I’ve never been someone who reaches for hot beverages first. For years I avoided coffee because I disliked very hot drinks — I prefer my water without ice and tend to like things at moderate temperatures. But I’ve warmed up to hot coffee over time (I still usually prefer iced), and seasonal flavors like eggnog lattes are irresistible when the weather turns.

Tea has never been my thing — regular tea tastes flat to me unless it’s doctored with milk, sugar and spices. So I was pleasantly surprised when I fell for a hot toddy a few years ago. Maybe that’s because it’s bourbon-forward and comforting in a way plain tea isn’t.

This recipe hits an amazing flavor trio: your favorite bourbon, a spoonful of caramel that melts into the warmth, and honeycrisp syrup for bright apple notes. Add the lemon and hot water and you’ve got something cozy and slightly decadent. Let this be your weekend treat.
