Currently Crushing On — August 8, 2015: Style & Favorites

The first week back from vacation is always the worst, isn’t it? I tried to make the return easier by baking a peach pie (you may have seen it on Snapchat) with organic peaches — which were outrageously expensive — and the result was just… so-so. It didn’t make the cut. You can bet it will end up in my year-end list of recipe disasters. Also, baking with a toddler who’s constantly on the move should probably be illegal. Max’s non-stop energy has turned pie-making into an intense workout.

Plans for the weekend? I’m thinking brunch, thin-crust pizza on the grill, and a giant ice cream cone. After a week away, that feels more than justified.

P.S. If you’re local, don’t forget to sign up for my August 20 cooking class. Whoop whoop!

Here are some internet finds I loved this week:

How is this even real life? Cotton candy affogato — yes, really.

Rainbow unicorn tie-dye s’mores made my brain explode with joy.

If you want to make pizza dreams come true, this homemade Margherita recipe is a must-try.

I’m a sucker for cute phone wallpapers — have you seen these downloadable designs? The donut ones are irresistible.

Please let cantaloupe Caprese be a permanent thing. Forever.

If anyone can get a chocolate chunk peanut butter soft-serve into my kitchen without me lifting a finger, I’ll be grateful forever.

I’ve been a bit obsessed with popsicles this summer, and these fig and ricotta cheesecake pops are absolutely worth making.

This is exactly how I plan to plant lettuce next year — smart, space-saving ideas for a small garden.

What I wouldn’t give for a whole vat of smoky blue cheese dressing all to myself.

Two words that sell themselves: smoky sweet corn hummus. Also, tostadas. Yes, please.

Because it’s summer and everything goes: croissant hot dogs wrapped in crispy bacon. I’m sorry, but also yes.
