Happy Saturday — and a very Happy Mother’s Day weekend to all the moms reading. I’m writing this on the drive back from Salt Lake City with my mom and Emilia, and I’m already looking forward to crawling into my own bed and hugging Eddie and Max. It’s been an incredible, long week full of travel and special moments.
This month I’m also on the road for book events: I’ll be signing copies in Pittsburgh this week and in Atlanta next weekend. If you want the full schedule for The Pretty Dish book tour, check the official tour listing. If you haven’t picked up a copy of The Pretty Dish yet, it’s available now — thank you so much for your support.
Favorites this week
Breakfast burritos are my current obsession — hearty, portable, and perfect for a weekend brunch. I’m also excited to try these chocolate chip banana bread bites for an easy snack that tastes indulgent but is simple to make.
Savory oatmeal breakfast bowls are on my list for a comforting, savory start to the day — a great alternative to sweet breakfasts. I’m craving an everything bagel sandwich for a quick, flavorful lunch option. For lighter dinners, chipotle lime shrimp bowls hit the spot with bold citrus and smoky heat.
With warmer weather coming, homemade vanilla ice cream is a must — classic, creamy, and easy to customize. For make-ahead mornings, vegan coffee caramel overnight oats are an excellent choice, rich with coffee flavor and a touch of sweetness. For a pretty dessert, meringues topped with citrus curd are delicate and bright.
If you’re planning a celebration, a Mexican chocolate piñata cake makes an unforgettable centerpiece with flavored layers and a fun surprise inside. And for an elegant finish to a spring meal, lemon curd crème brûlée offers a silky custard with crisp caramelized sugar — simple, stunning, and delicious.
