If you’re not a blogger or an avid blog reader, you might not know about Google Reader or that it was shut down today. Google Reader acted as an organizer for all the website feeds you added, and I’m genuinely sad to see it go. It saved me back in 2009 when I started blogging and still had to wake up every morning for a job I hated. Google Reader was always open on my computer and I kept hundreds of blogs in it—literally hundreds.
Many of you subscribe to this site via the now-defunct Reader, so I don’t want you to miss out on my oversharing and immature ramblings. I’m switching to Feedly. I won’t pretend I’ve rigorously tested it for weeks—I tend to procrastinate—but I did import my Google Reader subscriptions last week (it only took one click) and I’ve been pleased with Feedly since. I also installed the app on my phone and it’s the best RSS app I’ve used so far.
Another option is Bloglovin’, which I haven’t personally explored. What are you using to follow your favorite blogs? How do you keep up with posts you care about? And more importantly—are you craving a donut right now?

If you don’t use an RSS reader, you can also get every blog post delivered by email. Subscribe using the form in the right sidebar to receive How Sweet It Is posts straight to your inbox whenever a new post goes up.

If you want to follow the site elsewhere, you can find me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest.
And if you’re into lots of rainbow sprinkles—
All the time.
