I’m interrupting our regular schedule to share some birthday wishes. A few weeks ago, a wonderful guy named Drew reached out and asked if I could create something special for his girlfriend Christine’s birthday. He was earnest, persistent, and clearly thoughtful — especially when he mentioned how much he loves to cook. He also told … Read more

Whole Wheat Blueberry Banana Muffins with Honey Swirl

I always tease Mr. How Sweet about his quirky food obsessions—plain egg whites, plain ground turkey, protein bars. I’m just relieved he moved past his tuna and hard‑boiled egg phase. That literally stunk. Lately I’ve developed my own obsession: muffins. I want to bake every flavor imaginable, using every fruit possible, full of melted chips, … Read more

Happy Valentine’s weekend!

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? Eddie and I usually avoid going out on holidays — restaurants tend to be crowded and the food often disappoints. We prefer a quiet night at home, and this year will be no different: we’ll stay in and cuddle this little babe. I’m thinking of making a heart-shaped pizza, and you really should consider making one too.

One of my favorite childhood memories is decorating homemade Valentine boxes from shoe boxes or tissue boxes. School parties felt like the best day of the year.

P.S. If you have some spare time this weekend and want to unwind, you can listen to my podcast interview on Blissful Bites.

Here are a few things I’m crushing on this week:

Ten points for this one-bowl chocolate rose cake for two — absolutely stunning.

And this adorable Valentine’s Day almond cake? I love it.

For Eddie’s Valentine’s wish: a sheet pan BBQ blue cheese chicken pizza. Total dream food.

I wouldn’t say no to a spiked coffee milkshake this morning.

I’d like to have this DIY heart emoji pillow in my everyday life.

We’re all chasing the perfect cracker-style thin crust pizza.

Let’s talk about a few things I’ll never understand. First up: Ben as the Bachelor. I really don’t get it — not even a little. Next: fruit served as dessert. If it’s just fruit, it’s not dessert to me. Unless it’s drenched in chocolate or something indulgent, I won’t accept it as dessert. At best, … Read more

Chocolate Orange Brownies with Ginger Chocolate Frosting Recipe

I have never been a big fan of fruit-flavored chocolate — except for chocolate-covered strawberries. I used to beg for those chocolate orange balls you could buy at the drugstore. They seemed like the coolest thing: a large, round piece of chocolate, all wrapped up and ready to be tapped and shared. I finally tried … Read more

I think it’s safe to say there’s never a shortage of cheese in the How Sweet household. Because we have so much cheese, I like to get creative and try lighter or different preparations now and then. Since Mr. How Sweet often requests “healthy” versions of everything — cookies, cheesecake, butter chicken and Oreos included … Read more
