This spicy grapefruit tequila soda is bright, light and incredibly refreshing. Freshly squeezed grapefruit juice is shaken with tequila and jalapeño slices, poured over crushed ice, then topped with fizzy water for a simple, delicious cocktail.
Hiiii. This is my current favorite cocktail.

It’s refreshing, light and wonderfully citrusy—perfect when grapefruit is at its peak. If you love palomas or grapefruit vodka sodas, this drink will feel familiar, but with a touch of heat from fresh jalapeño that balances the tart grapefruit beautifully.

This is almost a paloma, but I leave the lime out and let the grapefruit shine. We’re using all fresh grapefruit juice and a couple slices of jalapeño for just the right spicy note. I don’t use lots of spice in food, but in cocktails I love it.
I also adore ranch water and vodka sodas, but tequila is my go-to—especially with grapefruit. It’s a classic pairing that feels so clean and crisp in a soda-style cocktail.

I prefer freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, especially in season. If fresh grapefruit isn’t available or you want a slightly sweeter, soda version, Fresca is a great substitute. It makes the drink sweeter but still delicious.

This is embarrassingly easy. It includes:
- Freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
- Jalapeño slices
- Tequila
- Super-fizzy soda water, like Topo Chico
THAT’S IT.

I shake the grapefruit juice with tequila and one or two jalapeño rings; shaking helps extract a gentle heat without adding sugar. I prefer to keep this cocktail low in added sugar, so instead of a jalapeño syrup I let the fresh pepper do the work.
Pour the shaken mix over crushed ice, top with bubbly soda water, and garnish with a grapefruit wedge and an extra jalapeño slice. Refreshing, spicy, and light—perfect for any weekend.
