Summer Fridays Volume 4: New Music & Highlights

summer fridays

Hey hey, summer Fridays! This is what my weekend looks like.

EATING

I’m loving my melted zucchini baked ziti — I can’t believe I haven’t made it yet this season. When I want something quick and comforting, the 20-minute summer squash pasta with brown butter is another big win.

DRINKING

Refreshing and simple: lemonade frosé. It’s my go-to for warm afternoons.

GRILLING

I’ve been making caramelized onion grilled focaccia bread lately. It’s unbelievably good — great as a side or even served with a salad for a light main.

MAKING

Thinking about the buttery lobster rolls I shared earlier this week. I shot them months ago, so it’s been too long since we had them — definitely craving those.

BAKING

I’ve been meaning to bake the banana cake with espresso frosting for weeks. It’s finally time to make it.

CRAVING

Always craving that lavender vanilla latte ice cream — I can never get enough.

LISTENING

To celebrate my brother’s wedding last week, I’ve been playing the wedding playlist we use for celebrations. It’s perfect for setting a joyful, upbeat weekend mood.

READING

I want to start Jamie Brenner’s Blush this weekend — I adore her books. If you need recommendations, I also put together a big summer reading list that’s full of good options.

LOVING

Two beauty favorites this month: a sunkissed cream bronzer that gives a natural glow, paired with a cream contour stick for a soft sculpted look. I’ve also been wearing crushed-shine jelly lipsticks — they’re a gorgeous hybrid of lipstick and gloss in pretty shades I’ve been reaching for nonstop.

WEARING

I don’t have a huge wardrobe update since I’m less than two weeks from giving birth, but I’m living in stretchy nursing tanks that offer a little compression and lots of comfort, paired with Align leggings. I also splurged on a dress that was one of the best purchases during pregnancy — it’s easy for nursing, can be worn on or off the shoulder, and has been so convenient.

SHOPPING

One item I get asked about often is my Maya Brenner initial necklace with the kids’ initials. I’ve worn it constantly. I recently sent it back to add the initial for our third child — I love that you can add to the existing necklace instead of buying a new one.

CARRYING

The Scout 4 Boys bag is my beach and pool essential. It’s waterproof, enormous (so it holds towels, toys, snacks, sunscreen, and more) and has a zip-top closure. If you haul a lot of stuff to the water, this bag is a game changer.

SHARING

The Everyday Dinners Cookbook Club on Facebook has been wonderful. The recipes and creative twists people share from the book are inspiring — if you own the cookbook, it’s worth joining the group for ideas and community.
