Spiked floats all around!

These boozy prosecco sorbet floats are embarrassingly easy to make and perfect for Oscars night. Pair one with a crunchy snack and you’re ready to settle in.
Every year I daydream about hosting a big Oscars party and every year it doesn’t happen, so this time I’m going virtual. Make a prosecco sorbet cocktail on Sunday night and toast with me—virtual party vibes for the win.

Full disclosure: I’m not obsessed with raspberry things, though I do enjoy fresh raspberries. The main reason I went with raspberry sorbet here was that brilliant, bright pink color. But paired with lemon sorbet, it’s a real winner.
Also, I used a drier prosecco to balance the sweetness of the sorbet. The sorbet itself is quite sweet, so a crisp, slightly dry sparkling wine helps cut through and keep the flavors balanced.

Now, are you more excited about the movies or the fashion at the Academy Awards? I’m a bit of both. I’m sad I still haven’t seen La La Land—truthfully, I haven’t been to a theater since having Max, except for a kids’ movie we took him to over Christmas.
These days, when I have a spare moment, I’d rather do all sorts of other things than sit in a dark theater for three hours: shoe shopping, napping, flipping through trashy magazines, or a Target run. But I used to love sneaking out mid-week for a movie with Eddie. It felt like a little treat during the week, and I’d love to get back to that habit.

Other films I want to see include Hidden Figures, Jackie and Arrival. Since becoming a parent, I admit I gravitate toward lighter comedies—heavy dramas or intense films make me anxious these days.
But back to the important question for Oscars night: who will be best dressed? That, and of course whether you’ll be sipping a float while you watch.
