Poppy Seed Fruit Salad Recipe with Creamy Citrus Dressing

I’ve discovered the secret to a truly exceptional fruit salad.

After making this one I don’t think I’ll be reaching for another fruit salad recipe. This version is simply outstanding.

I have a serious strawberry obsession right now. They’re unbelievably good — I’m buying far too many every week and cooking my way through them while the kitchen is being renovated. As I looked through what I’d made, I realized I’ve created five different strawberry recipes recently. If you love strawberries, you’re in luck.

This recipe comes from Robyn’s cookbook Add a Pinch. The book is gorgeous and the recipes are accessible but feel special — the white chicken enchilada stuffed shells are next on my list. I marked many pages because so many of the recipes caught my eye.

At first glance fruit salad seems like an easy share, but the dressing on this one captured my attention and made it the perfect side for an Easter table or any gathering.

Oddly enough, the dressing’s components — ginger, lemon juice and poppy seeds — aren’t things I normally imagine on fruit, so I hesitated to taste it at first. One bite changed my mind. The dressing is incredible and addictive.

My family couldn’t stop eating it. Eddie was sneaking fruit straight from the bowl after dinner, and Max devoured his portion like it was the best thing he’d ever had. The flavor really hits the mark.

One of the best parts is the flexibility: use whatever fruit you like. There aren’t strict rules — just follow the dressing and mix with your favorite fruit combination. The dressing doesn’t drown the fruit; it lightly coats it, adding a bright, slightly tangy, slightly sweet pop of flavor that makes you ask, “what is that?” It’s almost dessert-worthy.

Optional: a small scoop of vanilla ice cream on top takes it into dessert territory.
