Welcome to my first crushes of 2017. It feels like forever since I last shared a “crushing on” post, and it really has been a while. Today we’re taking down our Christmas decor, which makes me unexpectedly sad — this season with Max was so much fun. I probably haven’t felt this wistful about the holidays ending since I was about twelve.

That said, I’m excited for 2017. Right now I’m deep into photography for my next book. It’s bitterly cold here, so tonight I’m planning to indulge in lots of hot chocolate.

How are you all doing?

Here are some lovely things I’ve found online recently:

Kristen is running an inspiring 365-day challenge to boost happiness.

Snowman affogato — adorable and delicious.

A stunning winter salmon salad that looks perfect for cold evenings.

I’ve always loved Tracy’s posts about getting organized for the new year.

Red wine hot chocolate and Black Tap–style milkshakes — the ultimate indulgence.

I could really go for a BBQ chicken chopped salad this weekend.

Slow cooker chicken tortilla soup that’s comforting and easy to make.

Pretty winter citrus margaritas — such a bright, seasonal twist.

Peas and bacon mac and cheese — I’ll gladly accept the peas.

Wholesome lentil protein bowls that balance health and comfort beautifully.

Craving a big pot of winter vegetable minestrone to warm up with.

No convincing needed when it comes to a slice of hazelnut coffee cheesecake.

I also love the idea of a sweetened black bean dip with yogurt and pomegranate — an unexpected, tasty combination.

So many good things to try and savor as the new year begins.
