Happy summer Friday! Here’s what we’re up to this weekend.
EATING
Everything I mentioned in my recent roundup of favorite Father’s Day weekend recipes remains on repeat. I’m especially excited for my cedar plank grilled salmon and, yes, maybe even a flamin’ hot Cheetos hot dog for fun.
DRINKING
It feels like a frozen gin & tonic kind of weekend — or a strawberry gin lemonade if you prefer something fruitier and refreshing.
MAKING
My go-to right now is a Caesar pasta salad; it’s a great base to add grilled chicken or salmon. I’m also craving buttery lobster rolls when I’m feeling indulgent.
BAKING
Not exactly baking, but use those ripe strawberries for a strawberry shortcake trifle with homemade vanilla bean pudding — it’s light, summery, and dreamy.
CRAVING
All the nachos. Pulled pork nachos with pickle slaw are a favorite, and the street corn sheet pan nachos are great for feeding a crowd.
GRILLING
Grilled hot honey chicken with a sweet lime corn salad is an absolute knockout — you’ll want to make it on repeat. We’re also grilling shishito peppers (Eddie’s pick) and making a grilled buffalo chicken chopped salad for something with a little kick.
LISTENING
We’ve got a Father’s Day playlist spinning today — upbeat and summery to set the mood for the weekend.
READING
I’m currently reading Once More With Feeling and The Five Star Weekend. If you need ideas, my summer reading list has a bunch of suggestions to choose from.
WEARING
I’m trying to avoid sun exposure this summer, so I’ve been wearing rashguards that I love. A striped one and a zip-up that comes in black or hot pink have both been really handy for beach days and pool time.
SHOPPING
Some favorites are in the current beauty sale: a nostalgic summer perfume, a handy sunscreen spray, and a moisturizing hair mask I use weekly. For beach-ready texture, a triple waver creates wild, effortless waves. I keep a collection of my current favorites in one spot for easy reference.
LOVING
Emilia has been at zoo camp all week and they require a strap for water bottles. We picked one up and now everyone in the family wants one — practical and tiny but useful.
SHARING
I always look forward to the capsule wardrobe posts Merritt shares each season. Her summer capsule this year is especially lovely and full of wearable, coordinated pieces.
CELEBRATING
It’s been a big week of celebrations — Jordan’s birthday, my mom’s birthday, and Lacy’s birthday is tomorrow, with Father’s Day this weekend. I picked up my dad a favorite grill pan and grabbed a few small things for Eddie that I’ll share next week.
