Summer Fridays Vol. 2: New Tracks for Sunny Weekends

summer fridays

Back for another round of Summer Fridays — here’s what I’m up to this weekend.

EATING

So many delicious things on my weekend menu: grilled halloumi and vegetable skewers, a blueberry summer salad, and salted watermelon wedges. I’m still obsessed with seasonal house salads too — they’re my go-to for fast, flavorful meals and versatile enough to pair with anything.

DRINKING

My recent rosé guide is a bit dated, but many of those bottles are still favorites this year. Also highly recommending a frozen gin & tonic for hot afternoons — it’s an absolute must-try.

MAKING

I’m planning a summer pesto mini meatball soup that everyone loves, plus tomato picnic toasts for easy, crowd-pleasing bites.

BAKING

Blueberry-peach coffee cake is at the top of my list — it’s incredible — and I’m also thinking of baking cookies and cream bars for a sweet treat.

CRAVING

I’ve been dreaming of a beautiful summer evening cheeseboard served with rosé. I have a handful of favorite cheeses I always reach for when building boards — creamy, salty, and sharp elements balance perfectly.

GRILLING

Grilled zucchini with burrata and pine nuts makes a fantastic summer side, and I’m really tempted to make grilled chicken nachos this Sunday — comfort food with a charred, smoky edge.

LISTENING

My summer country playlist is on repeat. I create a new one every year and have come to love country music for warm-weather vibes — it’s become my favorite soundtrack for summer.

READING

I just started Emily Giffin’s latest novel. I’m still recovering from a book hangover after finishing Every Summer After — one of my top reads this year.

SHOPPING

Looking for Father’s Day ideas. Eddie has been wearing a Whoop since Christmas and hasn’t taken it off — he prefers it to bulkier smartwatches because it’s lightweight and tracks everything simply. I’m also ordering a couple of table-cooler bars for the patio — they function as furniture and a daily cooler, perfect for seltzers, beers, and kid drinks.

WEARING

Have you joined Team Sling as your everyday bag? I’ve been using an MZ Wallace sling since fall and it’s been perfect for hands-free days and stroller runs. A lightweight lululemon sling is another favorite for quick errands or walks.

LOVING

I finally tried Nightingale ice cream sandwiches after seeing them everywhere — they’re unbelievably good. Eddie, a big ice cream sandwich fan, loved them too. They’d make a great Father’s Day treat.

SHARING

I posted a new reel this week featuring marinated grilled peppers with burrata — a simple dish with big flavor that’s great for sharing.

PLANNING

Menu planning for next week is underway — it’s a short week because we have a little trip — and I’m leaning on a few favorite summer side dishes to keep meals easy and seasonal.

CELEBRATING

We’re celebrating my baby’s first birthday this weekend. I can’t believe Jordan is turning one — it feels surreal. His first-year posts and birth story capture so many moments from this past year. He’s the sweetest little chunk and I wish I could freeze this age forever.
