Oddly, I don’t love plain eggnog. I’ll sip a bit around the holidays, but the latte version changed everything. It’s the best of both worlds: cozy and rich without being as heavy as a full glass of eggnog.

Also — whenever I see eggnog or even hear the word, I immediately think of Cousin Eddie in Christmas Vacation, sloppily ladling that thick eggnog into a glass while wearing his holiday sweater. It’s my automatic mental image. I watch that movie several times each year, and the season officially begins now.

Iced Eggnog Lattes

Ingredients

  • 2 shots espresso
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • freshly grated nutmeg
  • 4 ounces eggnog
  • 2 ounces 2% milk (or a slightly thinner milk like almond milk)
  • whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  • Whisk the espresso and brown sugar together until the sugar dissolves. Fill a glass with ice and pour the espresso over it. Grate a little fresh nutmeg into the espresso and stir.
  • Mix the eggnog and milk, then pour over the ice. Stir gently and grate a bit more nutmeg on top.
  • Top with whipped cream if you like, and enjoy.
