Top Holiday Gift Ideas for Toddlers 2017

2017 toddler holiday gift guide I howsweeteats.com

Here’s an updated list of toys and gear Max has loved since our toddler gift guide last year. A few favorites repeat because they’re that good, and there are some new items we plan to give him this season. I’d love more toddler gift ideas if you have recommendations!

HowSweetEats 2017 Holiday Gift Guide for Toddlers:

Melissa and Doug Water Wow Books. These reusable water-activated activity books remain a lifesaver for restaurants and travel. Max has enjoyed them for years and they still capture his attention whenever we bring one out.

Lightning McQueen Scooter. We bought this for Max this year (complete with a matching McQueen helmet) and he’s thrilled. He lights up whenever he sees scooters in catalogs or at stores, so this was an obvious win.

Jellycat Stuffed Toys. Our favorite plushes are from Jellycat — incredibly soft, lightweight, and cuddly. They also offer charming companion books that pair well with the toys.

Patagonia Hi-Loft Down Sweater Hoody. If you live in a cold climate, this jacket is an excellent pick. It’s warm yet lightweight, and Max’s lasted through two seasons without becoming overly bulky. It keeps kids cozy without that overstuffed puffer look.

Color Wonder Markers. These markers are perfect for outings because the ink only appears on special Color Wonder paper, not on walls, furniture, or clothing. We rarely go anywhere without them.

Janod Wooden Firehouse. We love Janod wooden toys for their quality and design. This wooden firehouse is a classic, sturdy toy that sparks imaginative play.

Hanna Andersson PJs. These pajamas are the ones Max consistently wears. They hold up well in the wash, keep their shape as kids grow, and often go on sale — so it’s smart to buy during promotions.

Thomas the Tank Engine Coaster. Given to Max last year, this coaster has been a constant favorite. Watching him independently operate it now is so fun and sweet.

Food Truck Playhouse. Any tent or fort is a hit, but the food truck playhouse from Pottery Barn Kids stands out for the foodie in me. Max doesn’t need another playhouse, but I admit I’m tempted to keep this one for myself.

Play Cash Register. We got Max a play kitchen last year but skipped the cash register — a mistake, since he’s obsessed with registers now. He loves “checking people out,” so a register is definitely on our list this season.

Projector Nightlight. We used a projector nightlight in Max’s big-boy room. It comes with interchangeable slides for different scenes projected on the wall, and he enjoys watching the images before bed.

Radio Flyer 3-in-1 Trike. This trike has been a repeat recommendation because Max still loves it. He enjoys taking pretend walks while riding around, and it’s held up well over time.

Melissa and Doug Make-a-Meal Sticker Pad. Given to Max recently by a family member, this sticker activity pad lets him create meals and use his imagination. It’s been a big hit during quiet playtime.

Babiators Sunglasses. These are our go-to sunglasses for kids — durable and comfortable. Max has several pairs that stay on well, and they’ve held up without breaking.

Aden + Anais Dream Blanket. This blanket is a household favorite: thick, warm, and soft. It’s become a go-to for naps and cuddles.

Melissa and Doug Train Table. A gift from last year, the train table gets daily use and might be Max’s favorite toy in the house. It encourages long stretches of constructive and imaginative play.
