Or in a jar.

This is the same jar you’ll see in all my smoothies. Yes, I only have one jar. It actually belongs to Mr. How Sweet and came from Bass Pro Shops. It’s the one thing I let him keep from his bachelor pad because it somehow makes me feel a little southern.
Okay, that’s not entirely true — I allowed him to keep a few other things, but most of them have been relegated to his space: the garage. Except for that silly turkey. Don’t even get me started.
I decided to add apples to this smoothie — my first time using them in a blended drink. I figured roasted apples would bring out a deeper, sweeter flavor, so I used a lazy shortcut and microwaved half a Honeycrisp apple with some warm spices.

It was an excellent idea. You could certainly roast or caramelize the apples for an even richer taste, but I wanted a quick, drinkable snack — drinking equals portability and ease.
That said, I wouldn’t recommend making rum portable with this, though the idea of spiking this smoothie crossed my mind. A little rum might turn this into a boozy apple-cider-style treat.

Apple Pie in a Jar
Ingredients:
- 1 cup milk (I used vanilla almond milk)
- 1/3 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
- 1/2 large Honeycrisp apple, chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 pinches nutmeg
- Pinch ground cloves
- Pinch cardamom
Sprinkle the chopped apple with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg. Microwave (or roast/caramelize) for about 60 seconds, until the apple softens and releases its natural sweetness.
Place the milk, yogurt, vanilla, warmed apple, and spices in a blender. Blend until smooth. Stir in the graham cracker crumbs for a bit of texture, and top with an extra dusting of cinnamon or allspice if desired.

And there you have it — apple pie in a jar: a cozy, portable smoothie that captures all the warm flavors of the classic dessert without the fuss.
