Cheesy Pizza Fries Recipe: Crispy, Melty Snack for Game Night

Pizza fries are our new favorite thing — crispy waffle fries piled with marinara, melty mozzarella, and pepperoni. A shower of Parmesan and a scatter of fresh basil take them over the top. Cheesy, crisp, and utterly satisfying: the best game-day snack.

Here’s a simple recipe to make this weekend.

These pizza fries are loaded with sauce, gooey cheese, crisp pepperoni, and plenty of Parmesan. They honestly taste like a dream.

Fun fact: my kid requested these. For months Max kept talking about pizza fries — a friend at school mentioned them, and he wouldn’t stop. He even specified the fries to use, which made all the difference.

Instead of the typical long, crispy French fries I would usually choose, he insisted on the waffle-style fries — the kind you get at Chick-fil-A. Waffle fries are brilliant for this because each one holds toppings like a mini pizza. Perfect for snacking and sharing.

The result is an ideal game-day treat: crunchy fries, gooey cheese, a drizzle of marinara, crisp pepperoni, generous Parmesan, and bright fresh basil. Pure delight.

We love sheet pan nachos and creative fries at home — from smashburger fries to chimichurri cheese fries and hot honey feta fries — so pizza fries were the next natural step. Thanks to Max, we discovered how good they are, and now you can too.

Ingredients

  • 1 (20-ounce) bag frozen waffle fries
  • 16 ounces shredded mozzarella/provolone/Italian blend cheese
  • ½ cup marinara sauce or more, to taste
  • cup mini pepperoni
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan cheese for topping
  • fresh basil for topping
  • pinch crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Arrange the frozen waffle fries in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until they are crispy and golden.
  • Remove the fries from the oven. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese evenly over the fries, then drizzle the marinara sauce across the cheese. Scatter the mini pepperoni, then top with the remaining cheese and the Italian seasoning.
  • Return the pan to the oven for 5–10 minutes, just until the cheese is melted and the pepperoni edges are crisp.
  • Finish with a generous sprinkle of Parmesan and torn fresh basil. Add crushed red pepper flakes if you like a little heat. Serve immediately.
