While searching online for a new steak recipe for Mr. How Sweet, I stumbled across a delightful idea: chocolate-dipped clementines. Instant brilliance.

Chocolate-dipped clementines sounded perfect — bright and fresh, yet indulgent with a touch of rich chocolate and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. I fell in love immediately.
Full disclosure: after making cake batter chocolate bark in December, I had extra chocolate bars sitting around. Using some of that leftover chocolate for these clementines felt like the perfect excuse to enjoy chocolate for breakfast. No regrets.

This is a fun, simple snack — ideal for an after-school treat, a mid-morning pick-me-up, or any time you crave chocolate. The fruit makes it feel lighter than a typical dessert, and the chocolate adds the perfect sweet contrast. I certainly convinced myself it counts as a vitamin boost.
Because clementines are in season, they make an especially nice holiday appetizer or party treat. They’re more refreshing than a truffle and easier to assemble, so they’re perfect for crowds.

The combination is wonderfully fresh: juicy orange segments coated halfway in chocolate with a hint of flaky sea salt. The result is a snack that feels both indulgent and light — and, honestly, I hit the snack jackpot.

Ingredients
- 6 clementines, peeled and segmented (remove excess pith)
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or your preference)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- flaked sea salt
Instructions
-
Place the clementine segments on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave at 50% power, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring until smooth. Stir in the coconut oil until incorporated. Dip half of each clementine segment into the melted chocolate, place back on the parchment, and sprinkle with flaked sea salt. Repeat with remaining segments.
-
Refrigerate for about 10 minutes to set before serving. Store leftovers in the refrigerator; they keep well and are ready whenever a chocolate craving strikes.
