Oh my gosh. Say hello to the best smoked salmon platter ever!

My love for smoked salmon runs deep. Whether it’s for brunch or an elegant appetizer, I’m always in. A while back I shared smoked salmon bagels that I genuinely ate for weeks — they were that good.

On Christmas Eve my uncle assembles an incredible smoked salmon platter that we always share before dinner. It’s become a tradition I look forward to every year — a little savory treat before the big meal.

His platter is loaded with the best toppings: capers for briny pop, everything seasoning, fresh dill and all the little extras. I wanted to share this as a holiday brunch idea because it’s beautiful, easy to assemble and always a hit. It’s perfect with bagels, toast or crackers.
The platter feels both rich and light at the same time. The secret is offering plenty of options so guests can build their own bites. Keep it simple with salmon, cucumber, everything seasoning and some tomatoes for a lighter plate. Or go all in with a toasted bagel, cream cheese, smoked salmon, avocado and every topping you can imagine.
A killer smoked salmon platter is seriously my weakness.

I’ve been planning menus for December and Christmas week and want to have real, delicious food on hand so we don’t end up eating the same heavy leftovers all week. A standout breakfast on Christmas morning — something sweet plus a lighter savory option — is what I’m aiming for. This smoked salmon platter is top of the list. I’ll pick up freshly smoked salmon on Christmas Eve morning and keep it ready for a few days.

I’m even tempted to smoke my own salmon. We have a smoker (we used it to smoke a turkey) and a wood-fired pizza oven, so it feels doable. If you smoke your own, follow safe curing and smoking guidelines — but whether you buy or smoke it yourself, fresh smoked salmon makes all the difference.

And we can’t forget about the eggs. Soft-boiled eggs are perfect on their own, sliced onto a bagel or served alongside the salmon. Everything seasoning is a must — I have a favorite version I make at home and it elevates the whole platter.
If you want to add a bright side, sesame-dressed cucumbers are irresistible and pair beautifully with smoked salmon and cream cheese.
Trust me — once you put this together, it will likely be on repeat at your weekend gatherings through the holidays.
