Spiced Orange Spritzer Recipe for Refreshing Holiday Cocktails

If you’re over apple cider this season, meet the spiced orange spritzer — a bright, bubbly cocktail that’s a grown-up twist on a mimosa and reminiscent of an aperol spritz without the aperol.

The spiced orange spritzer is a fancier mimosa and similar to an aperol spritz! A fresh spiced orange juice based mixed with prosecco and seltzer. So good!

This drink balances fresh citrus with warm fall spices for an aroma and flavor that feels like the season in a glass. It’s light, effervescent and slightly sophisticated — perfect for serving before dinner or alongside a festive meal.

orange juice and allspice

If you’re craving a cocktail that avoids cranberry, pomegranate and cider, this is a welcome change. It’s simple, refreshing and just different enough to feel special. The combination of allspice and nutmeg with fresh orange is what elevates this drink — it adds warmth without overwhelming the bright citrus.

We are going full blown orange spice.

Start with freshly squeezed orange juice. Whisk the juice with a bit of orange zest, a touch of honey, and a pinch each of allspice and freshly grated nutmeg. The zest adds a vivid orange note; if you strongly dislike pulp or flecks of zest, you can omit it, but it really brightens the cocktail.

Pour the spiced orange mixture over ice, top with prosecco and finish with orange seltzer or plain seltzer if that’s what you have. Prosecco is my preference because its dry profile complements the citrus and spices nicely.

This spritzer feels less breakfast-like than a traditional mimosa, with more depth and a touch of sophistication. It pairs beautifully with classic Thanksgiving flavors — think cranberry, sage, turkey and stuffing — but is equally at home at brunch or a casual weekend breakfast.

Light, fizzy and aromatic, this spritzer is easy to make and elegant to serve. Garnish with an orange wedge and enjoy immediately so the bubbles stay lively.
