Summer Fridays Vol. 4: The Ultimate Warm-Weather Playlist

Welcome to Summer Fridays — that moment when the weekend vibe starts early, even if you haven’t left town yet!

CELEBRATING

We had an incredible party last night for The Pretty Dish at Room & Board in DC. It was such a fun event: cocktails from the book, bourbon burgers turned into mini sliders, avocado toast and balsamic watermelon-feta skewers. I’ll share more photos and a recap over on Crumbs, but one of my favorite moments was when Max wriggled free from Eddie, walked to the microphone and announced that “he eats pizza,” that “he drizzles the honey” to help me cook, and that “we have a baby.” I melted.

MAKING

On repeat lately: summer breakfast tacos every single day. I’m also making grilled cherry salsa to top everything — and, naturally, to scoop up with tortilla chips.

SNACKING

I prepped a few snacks for our DC road trip. My go-to portable treats are peanut butter oatmeal energy bites, pistachio macaroon granola bars and a zucchini-coconut chocolate chip snack bread. They’re easy, tasty and perfect for travel.

BAKING

Blueberry slab pie is on the menu. I’m about to go wild for blueberry season the way I did with strawberries — expect lots of baking.

SIPPING

Fresh peach gin and tonics are my current favorite — so summery and refreshing. I’m even tempted to try a frozen version.

READING

Finishing The Last Mrs. Parrish. I’m mixed on it: while many people rave about how great it is, it took me a while to get into. It felt a bit flat at the start, even though I enjoy lighter reads. Tonight I’ll begin Elin Hilderbrand’s newest, The Perfect Couple, which I’m excited for.

LISTENING

I put together the How Sweet Eats Road Trip playlist. We were saving it for our summer trip to northern Michigan, but I wanted you to enjoy it over the next few weeks — great tunes for driving or just relaxing at home.

DISCOVERING

I found a new podcast called The RFK Tapes — a must if you like Kennedy-era topics or American history. I also listened to Tom Brady’s episode on Oprah’s SuperSoul podcast and thought it was excellent.

BUYING

I finally got the Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Serum from one of my favorite skincare brands. It mixes into moisturizer for an easy bronzy glow — something I’ve been waiting to try.

WORKING

I’m drafting a post about blogging for nearly ten years. Technically it’s nine years now, but that’s close enough to celebrate. If you have questions you’d like me to answer about my blogging journey, drop them below and I’ll include them.

EXPLORING

We’re heading to Philly for the day for this weekend’s Pretty Dish event. I’m hoping to track down a great Philly cheesesteak while I’m there — tell me your favorite spot!
