Summer Fridays Volume 12: New Music, Looks, and Vibes

summer fridays

Hello summer Friday! Time to eat all the ice cream.

EATING

I’m craving those Thai drunken zucchini noodles and also want to make a fig and gorgonzola stuffed pork tenderloin. This weekend my goal is to use up everything in the fridge: next week I’ll be photographing 30 recipes for my next book and I need the space. We’ll have a lot of food on set, so I already bought extra containers and reusable bags to send food home with everyone.

DRINKING

Watermelon grapefruit palomas are such an amazing summer treat. And maybe a strawberry Pimm’s cup by the pool sounds perfect, too.

MAKING

I’m planning to try at least one or two dishes from a collection of easy weeknight dinners—25 favorite recipes that are great for back-to-school evenings.

BAKING

I’ll bake a batch of whole wheat zucchini banana chocolate chip muffins. They’re delicious and perfect for an easy breakfast or snack.

GRILLING

Veggie and halloumi skewers with pistachio pesto are a must on the grill this season. I love how fresh and bright they are.

SNACKING

Chili lime watermelon is my weekend snack while it’s at its sweetest and most refreshing.

READING

I heard about Red, White & Royal Blue from a friend and immediately felt like I had to read it. I’m starting it tonight—what are you reading?

LISTENING

I’ve been playing a gentle morning coffee playlist that feels a bit like a lovely morning meditation.

WEARING

I fell in love with a hot pink sweatshirt I found at Gap last week. It’s too warm to wear outside right now, but I’ve been living in it indoors.

LOVING

A local story touched me this week and brought me to tears. A high school organized a surprise performance for a terminally ill student in less than 24 hours; watching the video is incredibly heartwarming.

SHOPPING

I shared a mini Sephora haul recently and stocked up on my go-to skincare favorites. I picked up an illuminating tinted moisturizer, a cica repair gel (I already love the cream), and a Marc Jacobs lip gloss in a shade called To The Moon. I’m also tempted to try more from a skincare line I already enjoy—its eye cream is a favorite.

SHARING

I released a new video demonstrating homemade SpaghettiOs. If you haven’t made them yet, you must—they’re so, so good and surprisingly easy to recreate at home.
