Summer Fridays Volume 5: New Tracks & Chill Vibes

summer fridays

Happy 4th weekend! Here’s a look at how I’m spending mine.

EATING

My ideal 4th of July spread: smash burgers, the best baked beans, a refreshing melon mosaic salad, a perfect summer panzanella, and Hot Cheetos grilled corn. It’s a fun combination of classic BBQ flavors with a few playful twists that feel festive and delicious.

DRINKING

I’ll be sipping sparkling rosé Pimm’s cups and cherry-lime gin and tonics. Both cocktails are light, effervescent, and super refreshing for a hot summer day.

MAKING

On repeat: grilled asparagus Caesar salad and a comforting baked pesto pasta. Both are easy to prepare and great for feeding a crowd or enjoying as leftovers.

BAKING

I’ll be making firecracker confetti cupcakes — they’re festive and perfect for the holiday. I’ve also been making a triple-berry sheet cake lately that everyone has loved.

CRAVING

I can’t stop thinking about chocolate chip cookie s’mores bars. They’re indulgent and carry that nostalgic campfire feeling in every bite.

LISTENING

We’ve curated a couple of 4th of July playlists to set the mood for the weekend—upbeat, summery tunes to pair with food, friends, and fireworks.

READING

For book club this month we picked One Last Stop. It’s been an engaging read — what are you reading right now?

WEARING

I’m loving a super-cute USA sweatshirt I found locally. The colors are cheerful and the cozy fit is perfect for a breezy evening by the pool or a relaxed backyard gathering.

PLANNING

I’m currently on maternity leave, and most of the content you’ll see on the blog was prepared beforehand. I’ve been planning how my workdays will look once I return full time as the school year approaches. I rely on a passion planner (I use the academic-year version now) and also enjoy their free planning downloads to keep everything organized and fresh.

BUYING

I’m into the neon-pink pieces at Lululemon this season. I practically live in Align leggings and would love a bright pink pair, and the tanks in that colorway are so fun right now.

LOVING

Did you catch the trailer for the Sopranos movie prequel? The Sopranos remains one of my favorite shows, so this new project has me excited to see more of that world.

SHOPPING

There are lots of holiday sales this weekend. I’ve been eyeing a baby-sale pick for onesies and I’m also looking forward to the upcoming Nordstrom Anniversary Sale — it feels like a return to normalcy and is a great time to shop for wardrobe staples.

CELEBRATING

We’re celebrating the 4th with a relaxed weekend: a pool get-together, maybe a baseball game, plenty of downtime, and possibly my first margarita since having the baby. Cheers to a joyful holiday!
