Oh my yum.
This has been an unexpectedly veggie-forward week on How Sweet It Is, but I promise there’s more goodness coming. By tomorrow (and definitely by Monday), your taste buds will be thrilled and your belt might complain.
I’m genuinely excited about this giveaway. My excitement has only grown because I keep cooking from this book — I literally can’t stop eating things from it.
MamaPea is the creator of the blog Peas and Thank You. If you don’t already follow her, she’s hilarious, has adorable kids, and just published a wonderful cookbook that’s so much more than a typical recipe collection. My friend Ashley handled much of the book’s food photography, which makes the pages even more irresistible. MamaPea is vegan — which is the opposite of my usual cooking style — but that doesn’t stop the food from being incredible.
We actually share a love for many of the same flavors; she just prepares them with different, often healthier ingredients and a lot of vegetables. And even if vegetables aren’t your first love, she makes dishes that are genuinely delicious.
Since I started blogging, I’ve made several of her recipes (remember those dough balls?), and every time they win me over. The minute I got the book I made the Thai veggie burgers.
Get.in.my.mouth.
Seriously, they were fantastic. It was my first time making a veggie burger and I was pleasantly surprised — I might just dream of a Thai burger pillow tonight.
I also made a batch of the famously addictive mmm sauce and promptly slathered it on another burger. It’s the sort of sauce you want to dip everything into.
dirty placemat… ain’t no thang.
And then there was the chickpea strawberry salad. I ate it and nearly died — not from overeating vegetables, but because it was so astonishingly good. The cinnamon vinaigrette is addicting; I wanted to pour the rest over everything.
I told MamaPea this might be the best cookbook I’ve cooked from since my beloved Williams-Sonoma Handbook — and that’s a big compliment coming from someone who usually cooks with meat. The recipes are mostly vegetarian with plenty of vegan options, simple to prepare, and easy to adapt if you want to add meat or other ingredients to suit your household.
This book has earned rave reviews and for good reason: the recipes are approachable, flavorful, and clever. Whether you’re fully vegetarian, trying to eat more plants, or just curious, you’ll find plenty to love.
Today you can enter to win a copy of the book plus a fun “pea pack” full of goodies. I’m a little jealous of some of the items myself, even if I don’t need an apron that says “Mama.”

The contest closes Friday, Aug 12 at midnight EST. If you can’t wait or want to order the book for a friend, you can purchase it directly.
