These cupcakes are a twist on the beloved cookies-and-cream cupcakes, a recipe I still dream about.
Dreams so vivid I can almost taste them.
Or maybe that’s just from the cookies I sneak into bed.
Kidding! (Sort of.)
These cupcakes are dreamy too.

I used my reliable vanilla bean cupcake base and folded in chocolate chips.
The result is super moist and delicious.
It’s basically a cookie turned into a cupcake.

They didn’t last long in our house — gone in minutes. This time we didn’t share; we hoarded them.
The ooey, gooey frosting tastes just like cookie dough. It’s best spooned or slathered on since the chocolate chunks won’t squeeze through a pastry bag.
I’ll accept the mess for those chocolate chunks.

Chocolate Chip Cupcakes
Makes 12 cupcakes
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 cup chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cream the butter, sugar, and eggs together until light and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla.
Whisk the dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Add half of the dry mixture to the butter mixture and mix just until combined. Add the milk, then mix in the remaining dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips; chop them slightly if you prefer smaller pieces.
Divide batter into a 12-cup muffin tin and bake 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting.
Cookie Dough Frosting
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 to 2 pounds powdered sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1–2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk (adjust to desired texture)
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Beat the butter until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar until incorporated. Add vanilla, then add condensed milk a little at a time until you reach a spreadable consistency. Stir in chocolate chips. If the frosting is too stiff, add a touch more condensed milk; if too loose, add more powdered sugar.

I won’t let Mr. How Sweet eat these cupcakes — he’d get frosting stuck in his mustache. That mustache situation is still ongoing and makes him look significantly older than he is, which amuses and mildly horrifies me.
If he’s going to look that much older, he could at least act like a sugar daddy and buy me something nice — shoes, a new car, treats for friends. What would you pick? I’m taking orders.
