Asiago beer bread is the perfect fall snack — hearty, cheesy, and ideal for tearing off a chunk to serve with soup. It bakes up with a crisp, golden exterior and a tender, dense interior that’s perfect for dipping.
The soup companion of the season has arrived.

This asiago cheese beer bread is quick and simple to make, and it’s a cozy addition to any autumn meal. It pairs beautifully with most soups and stews — thick and soft enough to soak up broth while holding its shape for easy dipping.

I love beer bread. My mom used to bring beer bread mixes home from school fundraisers, and those memories still make this quick bread feel comforting and familiar. It requires just a few everyday ingredients — and, of course, beer — for a warm, rustic side dish.
It also makes a great afternoon snack.

And cheese makes everything better.

The beer helps the bread rise slightly and adds a subtle, malty note to the flavor. Any beer you enjoy will work, but lighter beers like lagers or pilsners tend to let the cheese and butter shine through best.
I’ve experimented with variations before — from pumpkin cider beer bread to beer bread scones — and even used beer bread biscuits as a pot pie topping. This asiago version is my go-to when I want something savory and a little special.

What I love most is the golden, crunchy crust. The butter on top browns and crisps the exterior into a wonderfully flaky shell that contrasts the dense, slightly crumbly inside.
The interior is satisfyingly dense without being heavy — excellent for slathering with butter or dipping into soup. It pulls apart easily, making it a comforting, shareable addition to any meal.

There are so many soups that pair well with this bread. A few favorites to serve alongside are fire-roasted white bean soup, maple turkey chili, and minestrone with kale pesto. It’s versatile enough to complement both light brothy soups and heartier stews.

Cheesy bread forever.
