Summer Fridays Vol. 2: The Ultimate Summer Music Mix

summer fridays

Back for another round of Summer Fridays — here’s what I’m into this weekend.

EATING

These grilled summer chicken rice bowls are a go-to right now — bright, flavorful, and easy to put together. I’m also making my strawberry crunch salad while strawberries are at their peak; it’s light and addictive. Another favorite is my melon mosaic salad, which the kids always ask for. Speaking of salads, I’m a little obsessed with signature house salads and why they’re so satisfying.

DRINKING

The spicy grapefruit tequila soda is my current refresher. It’s crisp with a hint of heat and perfect for warm afternoons. Fun glasses make the drink feel extra festive.

MAKING

I always keep a batch of broccoli slaw on hand — it’s crunchy, tangy, and one of my favorite easy sides to make for the week.

BAKING

Cookies and cream bars are a standout — rich, sweet, and a total crowd-pleaser. For breakfasts, I’ve been baking peaches and cream oatmeal cups, which are comforting and portable for busy mornings.

CRAVING

I’ve been dreaming about no-churn strawberry Oreo ice cream — sweet, creamy, and perfect for summer.

GRILLING

Grilled marinated peppers with burrata remain one of the best things I make on the grill. I’m also loving grilled garlic baguettes served with a Greek salad — such a satisfying, easy meal for warm nights.

LISTENING

My 2023 summer country playlist is on rotation — new collaborations like Miranda Lambert and Leon Bridges have been especially good company while cooking and relaxing.

READING

I’m currently reading Same Time Next Summer. I also keep a summer reading list handy with titles I recommend for lazy afternoons and beach days.

WEEKENDING

For summer weekdays and weekends with the kids, I rely on a few essentials that make outings and little adventures easier; I summarized them in a recent post about summer with kids.

SHOPPING

I finally bought the Ninja Creami after seeing so many rave reviews — I’m excited to make smoothie bowls and quick sorbets for the kids. Has anyone else tried one?

WEARING

I’m loving the Show Me Your Mumu graphic sweatshirts for their softness and comfort. I’ve also been wearing my summertime house and cooking flip flops nonstop — they’re surprisingly supportive. The stardust shade reads like a neutral on me and works with everything.

LOVING

Dagne Dover items have been a favorite since having kids: lightweight, waterproof, and easy to clean. They recently released a neon collection that sold out fast, but I did snag a neon pink belt bag that I adore. I’m also eyeing a Beis suitcase for the kids’ growing wardrobes and curious about the build quality.

SHARING

This week on Instagram I posted a few new recipe videos: grilled shrimp couscous, grilled chicken pasta salad, and a watermelon chicken salad — all easy, fresh meals for summer.

CELEBRATING

We’re celebrating Jordan’s second birthday this weekend — it’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown. He’s brought so much joy to our family, and it’s wonderful watching how much Max and Emilia adore him. I’ve documented two years of him in my week-in-the-life posts. It’s also my mom’s birthday this weekend, so there will be cake for everyone.
