Hello summer Friday! It truly feels like the best day of the week.
CREATING
This past week Jess from Plays Well with Butter visited, and we had a fantastic time. She helped with photos and recipes and came up with a brilliant cocktail idea I’ll share soon. We made pizzas for dinner, styled a large cheese board and spent a hilariously long time talking about Beyoncé like she was our neighbor. All the usual, fun things.
MAKING
We ate out a lot this week, so I’m planning a stretch of simple, seasonal meals at home. I’m excited to make a brown butter garden vegetable pasta skillet and maybe roasted corn Caesar salads. I also want to make chicken cheesesteaks for Eddie because he loves them. And I’m tempted to bake a whole wheat chocolate zucchini cake — it even has candied pistachios, which sounds irresistible.
SIPPING
This weekend I’m revisiting a throwback cocktail: frosty coconut mojitos. They’re one of my summer favorites and I can’t let the season pass without making them at least once.
EATING
One meal out this week was at Morcilla, and it was outstanding. They serve lavender sugar Marcona almonds and the oxtail plate is unforgettable. Right now they have a roasted corn creamed corn dish that was fantastic, and yes — they offer churros for dessert. Enough said.
WRITING
I’ve been doing daily brain dumps. I’ve mentioned Mel Robbins’ YouTube channel a lot lately, but a video about feeling overwhelmed really resonated with me. It describes exactly how I get paralyzed by overwhelm and why brain dumps are so useful. I tend to freeze and do nothing, and the practice of morning pages — even when messy — is helping me move forward. It’s surprisingly life-changing.
READING
I’m starting Colleen Hoover’s All Your Perfects tonight and I’m excited. Her books are always page-turners, so I expect to make quick progress. Have you read it yet?
LOVING
Have you tried the salted cold foam cold brew from Starbucks? I had two this week and they are unreal. The salted foam is insanely good. I’m hoping to recreate it at home so I can enjoy it whenever I want.
BUYING
I’m a big fan of adding items to my online cart and waiting before checking out. After a day or two I usually decide whether I really want something, and more often than not I don’t buy it. Right now my cart contains a YSL metallic liquid lip, Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter, an olive tank dress, and a pack of my favorite hand soap.
LISTENING
This week Lacy put together an amazing playlist of some of our favorite cover songs. It’s really good — crank it up and enjoy.

Only a few summer Fridays left — cheers to those warm days and easy nights. xoxo
