Can we have a party?

No, seriously — we should have a party.
Because we need to drink these little shakes together.
It might be the only time it’s acceptable to do shots in the invisible internet friend world. (Maybe not, but go with it.)

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen that last week I had a shake like this for lunch. Rice Krispie treats are one of my guilty pleasures and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Why? Because of the texture. I’m a texture person, and those squishy marshmallow bites get me every time.
When I was a kid, homemade Rice Krispie treats were a highlight — not the factory-wrapped kind that came in metallic blue packaging. Those prepackaged versions made us stop making the real ones as often, which was a real disappointment. Give me freshly pressed Rice Krispie treats, gushers, a Saved By the Bell marathon, and I’m set. I’ll even share one with you.
P.S. Kelly Kapowski turned 40 yesterday. I had a small existential moment.

This is essentially a vanilla marshmallow milkshake, spiked of course, with actual Rice Krispie treats blended right in. You could skip making the treats and add cereal instead, but the marshmallow-bound treats provide better texture and a sturdier topping. Plus, you need those treat chunks to pile on top and eat into oblivion.
These are served in fun shooter-sized portions — perfect for game day or any party where you want to sample more than one thing. You can absolutely make one large shake or two big ones for yourself, but the mini versions are playful and leave room for extra snacks.
Okay, I’m done talking. Time for Rice Krispies and all the toppings.

Spiked Rice Krispie Treat Shake Shooters
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups rice cereal
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vodka (plain vanilla or marshmallow-flavored)
- 2 cups vanilla ice cream
- 1/3 cup marshmallow fluff
Instructions
- To make the Rice Krispie treats: melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat, whisking until it begins to brown slightly and you see golden bits forming on the bottom, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to low, add the mini marshmallows, and stir continuously until melted. Stir in the vanilla extract. Remove from heat and add the rice cereal, stirring until fully combined. Press the mixture into an 8×8 baking dish and let it set for 15 minutes.
- To make the milkshakes: combine the milk, vodka, vanilla ice cream, and marshmallow fluff in a blender. Break about three-quarters of the Rice Krispie treat mixture into pieces and add to the blender. Blend until smooth and well combined, pulsing as needed so you still have some texture. Pour into glasses or shooter cups.
- Cut the remaining Rice Krispie treats into small chunks and top the shakes. Serve immediately with wide straws for scooping and sipping.
